Florian Schroll
Polar Guide, Project Manager, Physicist

Grown up close to the Alps, the mountains were my first training area for extensive outdoor experiences. After my studies of physics I was drawn to the arctic, where the glaciers are even bigger and the areas more lonely. Since then I am always found in the Arctic in the northern summer as a tour guide and logistics manager. As a physicist I love it when things get complicated. As a project manager I am happy when things work out. I really enjoy finding solutions in complex situations with only few tools. At the same time, nowhere else can you work with people more intensively than in a small camp or on a sailboat that you share for several weeks. Planning, thinking everything through and often discarding it again, that is my invisible work at Expedition Services. Being close to the customer and implementing the project well is the result of this work.

Michael Trittin
Polar Guide, Engineer, Mason

To create something with my own hands, to tackle it and see the result of my work – that feels good to me. After my apprenticeship as a mason I set out to discover the world. Getting to know foreign cultures, far away from home, exploring the beauty and diversity of the unknown was and is a very enriching experience for me. Thus, I lived in Iceland, Northern Norway and during my civil engineering studies in Siberia, Russia. In 2015, I was for the first time on Spitsbergen as a guide. The wild beauty and remoteness of the High Arctic immediately captivated me and so I was in the Arctic for months again and again over the following years. It is a challenge to be perfectly prepared for an expedition. But in the end, flexibility is most important. On expeditions, I like to be the person who sets up the last tents outside, while the stove is already heating up in the mess tent.
